I was memorized the whole way through reading this what a beautiful depiction of your younger self and what they go through and teach us along the way really really wonderful writing
I really loves this. The way you take us through the journey since being that girl with the bubble gum. It felt very embodied like I was walking with that girl wpthriugh the journey, passing by that homeless man… I’ve been meaning to write something similar to this. Thanks for your words and this beautiful frame.
I quite enjoyed the distinctive voice present throughout the poem, as well as the unique spacing that reorganizes the stanzas in the reader's eye. I loved how the vignettes maintained variety while painting a cumulative picture, and I loved the endless array of concrete images. And I loved that those concrete images were strewn about mini-narratives and not just listed for poetic effect.
Gosh! It’s such an intense time. One thing I promised myself when I became a mother is I will never downplay the emotions of my son when he reaches this phase. We needed so much more grounded guidance than we received.
What good is an Angel that can’t fly faster than a 2001 Saturn….great line. Good work.
That one gave me a chuckle. Thank you for reading 🙏🏽
This was such a beautiful window into a particular time. I can feel the struggle but you also speak of her with warmth. I LOVED this part…
and these are the moments
when parallel realties collide
one version of her still on the yellow ride
Thank you so much for diving into the memories with me 🙏🏽💜

Thank you. I really tried to put myself back in her skin for this one.
I can tell. It feels very lived.

Polished work, here.
Thank you so much 🙏🏽 it was definitely interesting exploring such specific memories and feelings while also keeping the flow alive and unrushed.
Thanks for sharing. I felt like I was riding with you on a cold night. The stars really are brighter on those crisp nights.
Thank you for reading! And yes, it’s a fascinating phenomenon
Who blinked first: you or the cactus?
😂😂 me for sure
That was such a desperate time for a lot us: to fit in; to stand out; to understand; to be understood; to love; to be loved.
For some of us, It's only years later that we realised that young person taught us how to love ourselves.
It's always a pleasure reading your work.
